Kingscliffe Triathlon
Had my first race on the weekend on my new envie | giant, taking first place in the open females Olympic distance triathlon at Kingscliff. My bike leg has improved since riding a giant bike, I feel light strong and fast everytime I ride it. It was great to get the win under my belt. It was a beautiful swim in the creek, 1.5km along the waters edge, a hard open road 40km bike leg of four laps. This was followed by a 10km undulating run course. It is always a delight to compete locally and in such beautiful spots that are just at your door step here on the Gold Coast.
These events attract so many people who are all out to chase the same thing at the end of the day and that is their goal - their dream. We all driven by different motives, whether it's to be fit and healthy, to use sport for social interaction and a hobbie, or to use physical activity and competition for the benefits of mental and physical health. People say it's an inspiration to watch professional athletes, but I also think it is an inspiration to watch everyone out there having a go and doing their best to be the best possible athlete and or person they can be. I am looking forward to competing in my next race next weekend at the Luke Harrop Memorial Triathlon in the elite women's field. I am looking forward to a great year ahead too - training, staying fit and healthy, and undertaking lots of good hard racing and results in Australia and internationally. My biggest belief to date, is that everyone is capable of being Great and that dreams are achievable if you believe in yourself and don't hold back. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it, and never give up!
